Hi Marjie,

How nice to "meet" you!

How nice of you to offer to take some pictures for me!

My father (an only child) was born in Barrow in 1914. My grandmother (one of 11 children) was born in Barrow in 1885.

My father, his parents, and his aunt came to the U.S. in 1922.

I don't know where my father lived when he was born or as a young child, but I do have some addresses for my grandmother and her family.

Some of the addresses that I have are as follows:

47 Chester St
5 North Row (?)
42 or 43 Roose, South Row (?)
6 Keith St

As I recall, there might be something on Frederick St, too, but I need to check my [sign in to see URL] records some more to find that one.

I am very interested in Genealogy and spend many an hour on [sign in to see URL].

My maiden name is Clarke, and my grandmother's maiden name was Brewer.

Some of the other surnames in my ancestry on my father and grandmother's side are
Lewis, Kendall, and Shaw.

I will do some more research and see what I can find for addresses. How far away from you do you think some of those address that I gave you are? I have seen some pictures of where my grandmother lived, but I would love to see more!

I am so happy to "meet" you.

Hi Marjie,

Thank you so much!

Another address I found is 42 Manchester St.

My paternal great grandparents, Arthur John Clarke and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Banks, were living at 42 Manchester St in 1913 and 1917 when they died.

Maybe, you might even know some of the descendants of my family. Most of the family remained in England, while only a few came to the U.S.

I would love to visit Barrow some day, but don't know if that would ever happen. If we ever do go to Barrow, though, I will be sure t let you know!

Hi Marjie!

Thanks so much. This is exciting! I appreciate the efforts of you and your daughter.

I don't know whether I have any ancestors who still live in the Barrow area. Through [sign in to see URL], I have made contact with two third cousins on my father's side, but they have both moved away from Barrow, one to London, and one to Stockport (near Manchester). We did correspond for a while.

I am going to research my tree some more and try to find more names of people who might have stayed in the Barrow area, and whose relatives could possibly still be there.

Some of the other surnames of people in my tree who were in Barrow are Frankland, Woods, Houldsworth.

Thanks again for your interest in my family!

emoticon Susan, I am sitting here with a silly grin on my face..
how lovely it is to hear you two, BuckEyeSue and Marjie talking about this.

I am not that interested in my genealogy, feel quite sad that I have lost touch with my only brothers children, but that is life sometimes.

but this is so exciting.... so happy that we can listen also.
