Remember that Christmas cactus I told you I bought? I told the woman in the store how the buds were falling off it. She asked me if my house was humid, told her no. She told me to mist it everyday.

So, that's what I've been doing and some of the buds are actually opening.. :yep

The ones that fell off, I just put back on the dirt. I don't know why, just did..

I keep a tray of water under plants that need humidity. That way the water evaporates up into the plants.

Elle, the christmas cactus isnt a true cactus. But you are right, cactus dont need alot of water.
Christmas cactus does need some humidity in the air to hold on to their buds and they need to be watered when dry.

You can either set the plant in a tray with pebbles in it to create the humidity OR you can just keep it around alot of other plants. Groupings of plants will have a higher humidity level then a single one.

I didn't know that..

I mist it everyday, seems to be working, but next time I'm in Walmart, I'll get some rocks and see what happens..

Since I mist everyday, one of my buds,(most fell off) bloomed.. Wish I had known about that sooner.. Oh well, will be better next year..

If it lives.. LOL

I am so tired of raking leaves, picking up pine cones, and then the wind blows the neighbors' leaves and pine cones over the fence into my yard again. Grrrrrrrr... :tapFoot

However! We will carry on!

It is cold and has been raining the past couple of days in Maine. I hope it warms up this weekend, or folks in the topless parade are going to freeze their ta-tas.

Gahhh! I'm miserable. The pollen is horrific. Everything is yellow. I could scratch my eyes out, pull my nose off, and rub my throat and the insides of my ears with scrub pads! My nose and eyes are also running. It's awful.

These are the dog days of summer, where I live. In another few weeks it will be a lot cooler, thank God. Today it was over 90 degrees with very high humidity.

It seems as though it has been in the 90's for a couple months here, just dipping below for a few days at a time. I don't remember another summer this hot.

Same here. When you get to where you can't possibly stand the heat one more second, then we get a day of cooler temps with less humidity, then [sign in to see URL]'s back.

It was a very cool night last night, 54°F (12°C) and today's high will be around 71°F (22°C). It's chilly indoors.
