Nanny, your first ]Link is perfect.

I can understand the wind map pretty well. It shows a low pressure southwest of Minneapolis where winds are blowing into this deep low pressure hole. You can hover for more info or click to zoom in. It also shows the wind flow going northward from the gulf coast.

Your second link, Nanny, is good also because it has the link to the wind map on the front page.

Bookmarked in my Weather folder, thanks.

I stumbled upon a different but similar US wind map. It doesn't have all the user features that Nanny's wind map has. But it will show the wind speed if you click anywhere on the map.
