There's a new helper for the Restart of WinXP updater. After downloading the Windows updates it asks you to click their restart button, I prefer to use the keyboard Start key, it shows "Turn Off Computer", I click it and I get a menu box showing "Stand By", "Turn Off" and "ReStart".
Windows updater has added their icon shield to my Turn Off button and no matter how many times I shut down and turn on my computer that dumb shield remains there. Also Windows gold update shield takes days to remove itself from my system tray (near the clock) after updating.

It's the same on my 32 bit WinXP laptop but it doesn't show on my 64 bit Win7 laptop.

Better and quicker than CCleaner is ATF Cleaner. You can get it [url=[sign in to see URL]
It's also free.

Ohhhhhh, I don't think I could give up CCleaner. It is my friend and I trust it. If anything ever happens to it I will try ATF Cleaner. Thank you. I am glad to know about ATF.

I used to depend on ATF cleaner, it was much simpler to use than manually following this path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\[sign in to see URL]

Then I found CCleaner which is a whole lot better than ATF.

CCleaner has a registry thing which is very bad for PCs. I follow the advise I got at Community-Feedback, which stopped recommending CCleaner a few years back.

And I have always heard that CCleaner is the the safest of the registry cleaners. However I think it is better to skip registry cleaning altogether unless you know what you are doing.

Re: Update Chrome 29.0.1547.57 - Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013

Chrome [sign in to see URL] contains a number of fixes and improvements, including:

*Improved Omnibox suggestions based on the recency of sites you have visited

*Ability to reset your profile back to its original state

*Many new apps and extensions APIs

*Lots of stability and performance improvements

As usual I don't see anything new. :))

I sure see something new! In fact I thought Runboard had done something and instead it was the Chrome update. When you click on Insert image, here, to insert an image code, a different box pops up and it is way up at the top of the screen rather than right where I am typing. It is annoying. I even reported it to Runboard because I thought it was an error with the latest improvements and it turned out to be the Chrome update.

You can compare the two by trying the image box in both Chrome and Firefox.

Re:

I never use that "Insert image" feature because all my images come from PB already coded with [ img ] and [ /img ].

Okay, I just clicked "Insert image" and the box asked for an url so that means it will add [ img ] and [ /img ], will it allow a website's bandwidth theft by hotlinking their photos? Remember that every view uses bandwidth and is traceable to every viewer.

When I grab a web photo I always right click, open in a new tab, this will isolate and make the photo the full published size then I'll right click and save as. After the photo is saved in my computer all ties to the photo's source are broken therefore no bandwidth theft.

I leave open a window to eHappy's smileys and use the codes from there all over Runboard and Yuku. They are my pictures and then I don't have to hunt through my smileys at Photobucket. I right click on the smiley I want and Copy image url.

Good trick, you are just using RB's resources so it's okay to do it.

At my debate board the owner had a emoticon page he added onto his domain because his forum didn't have good emoticons. I right clicked one of his posted emoticons once and I found it's url source. He told me it was fine to use any of them on his board but trusted the members not to post them anywhere else.

I have a small gripe. The emoticons have a different code on eHappy than on Susa's Sunroom. I have a few emote codes memorised and I have to think about which board I'm posting on or the emote won't work.

Yes. eHappy is done correctly. Susa's Sunroom is not but it is too late to change all of the codes. It would mess up all of the past posts that have the codes. I should have a : before and after each emoticon code. Anytime I have put a new one on here at Susa's Sunroom, I have added that but most of the emoticons are original.

All of the emoticons are stored at my Photobucket and not on Runboard.

That's what I would do if it wasn't too much work. Yes, changing the code would mess up past posts but past posts are hardly ever looked at again besides most of those emotes have at least a shortened text so if a person sees one it's not hard to guess what it is.
It's your decision but I would have to unmemorise the ones I use most or remember to always add the second : :ha:

emoticon It didn't even mess up most of the past smileys because their code is within the new code. Only the animals are really messed up.

Re: AVAST! Program update - v8.0.1497 - 9/5/2013

What's new in this version:

* Fixed issues related to Win 8 & Win 8.1 (avast! is now fully compatible with these operating systems)

* Fixed issues in virtualization module (including other x64 platform fixes)

* Fixed issues in Script shield

* Outlook plugin fixes

Right click Avast tray icon, select Update then click Program.
After the download is done it will ask Reboot? Yes No
After rebooting/installing you'll get a confirmed screen with Finish.
Clicking Finish will open your default browser if it's Chrome, good, because Avast wants you to have their free security enhancement Chrome extension which has Anti Phishing, Reputation Report Rating and Auto Correct Address URLs. The Rep Reports are rating bars that appear next to most urls on most websites.
Here's Avast's Rep icon along side of the WOT rating icon. --Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Hey HG, I've got an update question. I got the latest bunch of Windows Updates [sign in to see URL] were 14 of them total. I installed them all without a problem but when the computer finished restarting, I got a message that there were still updates that needed to be installed. When I looked on the Update program, it was three Security updates for Windows Office Suite. I installed them, then checked for updates again and the same three updates came up! I did this about three times and each time, they would still show as needing to be installed, so finally I just hid them.

I ran the updates on my mother's desktop, which has Windows XP and the same exact thing happened. When the 14 updates finished, those three came up with a message saying they had already been installed but needed to finish installing. Unfortunately on that PC I can't figure out how to hide them so I just had to leave them there.

I'm presuming it's a glitch with the Update program and as far as I know the updates are on my computer so I'm not concerned, just wondered if you or anyone else had a similar problem.
