Another knee problem

A couple of years ago I overextended my left leg and the knee took a long time to heal. Then this summer my right knee started to hurt, sometimes all the way down to my ankle, sometimes up the back of my thigh. I assumed it must have been a similar injury and did he ice on the knee, wearing a wrap when I walked, etc. My useless new doctor said he would refer me for an MRI but I never got the call. Finally I asked a chiropractor what imaging he could send me for, and he said just an X-ray. I thought that probably wouldn't help much because by this time I had begun to feel that I must have torn cartilage or damaged a tendon. To my surprise the X-ray showed that I have lost most of the cartilage in my knee and it is filled with bone spurs. Now I am booked to see a specialist who scopes knees, or, when he sees my X-ray, he may recommend a knee replacement. Whatever works is fine with me, because walking and hiking is the only exercise I could stick with.

That sounds difficult.

I hope they can help you with your knee so you can keep walking.

I have known several knee replacement people and my cousin is having one in a week. I have heard very good things about it. I think it is highly successful and you will be so glad it is done. Let us know when they decide what to do. We will support you all the way.

I have a former piano student's mom, who had a knee replacement within the past 30 days. I was rather alarmed when I heard she was having knee surgery because she has to weigh 300 pounds. Well she had the surgery and she is doing great! She did not even have to go to a place for rehab. She did it all at home. I am totally amazed. The last I heard, she was riding her stationery bike at home.

Let us know what happens with your knee. I know that I care.

The last 4 days my knee was feeling a bit better. I got a bit over confidant, hurried toward the kitchen yesterday and pain unreal. My gut feeling is there is some kind of tendon damage. Anyway will find out Monday.

Do you have a flexible knee brace? It's like the worlds biggest hair bungee....
I have one and Mom and Dad have them. We use them to 'remind' us not to turn wrong, etc.

Let us know what happens, Okay?
