Saffron?

emoticon stupid me, lost my post

now...

what did I say?

anyone saffron?

the only thing I knew about saffron goes way, way, and way back to my school days..

I didn`t do well at German, but this phrase has stayed in my head, could be part of a poem?

",,, saffron macht den kuchen geld"

apologies if you read this Firle and my German is all over the place! emoticon

then coming to the present day, I have recently discovered ! saffron, first of all in cooking... and now as a tablet/medicine and wondering if anyone has any knowledge or experience of this... it does sound amazing

this is my link for the tablets here.

I have never before heard of taking saffron. I would need to do a lot of research. I don't like the sound of the side effects [url=[sign in to see URL]

If you try it, be sure you do not take too much.

It's best to get the 'medicinal' qualities by using these wonderful things in cooking. Rarely can one over do it, when using herbs and such for cooking. But they still can provide us with many healthy benefits that way....

Re: Saffron?

You got it quite right, Nanny. emoticon

The original sentence is:

Safran macht den Kuchen gel.

(And gel is an old word for gelb, which means yellow. Very simple. Saffran makes a cake yellow.)

I'm not sure saffron is actually much of a remedy. It is part of the crocus flower (only one specific kind, not the usual ones), and I honestly believe it only got so valuable because there is a lot of work involved in harvesting it.

And, well, it does give food a nice yellow color and a bit of a different taste. Not a fan of it.
