hubby`s chest/lung problem UPDATING

He only has the one lung, and has copd.

on occasion he has had bronchitis, and with course of antibiotics has got over it quite quickly,

now well over a week now,, 2 weeks I think, I lose track of time, or I don`t keep track of time

had the doc come out to see him, he was given a course of antibiotics, which helped a bit, but still poorly, appetite gone, not wanting to do anything, not even watch tv..!! emoticon

so doc came out again, furosemide 20 mg
doc said to get the fluid off his lung

don`t think hubby has had this problem before.

so just wondering if anyone..... Queeny, you have copd,,,, have taken this medication,
how long should it be before he feels some improvement? he has just had 2 days now.. ok. I am impatient, but I admit that I am a bit worried.

just sharing with you.. thanks

No Nanny, I've not taken that [sign in to see URL] do have COPD, but my lungs are still strong enough that when I get fluid in them, I can cough it up. I sound like a cat hocking up a [sign in to see URL] I eventually get it out! emoticon
I think fluid in the lungs from 'any' reason can lead to [sign in to see URL] be careful of that. It can lead to coughing, weakness, tired, dehydration (just to tired to care enough)...
I would not wait to long for the medicine to [sign in to see URL] if for any reason he gets WORSE, call right away!

Re:

Diuretics are used for heart disease mainly, but they are also used for other things, like in Jim's case. If he is not peeing a lot, they are not working. I agree with Queeny, don't wait too long before calling the doctor back.
