posticon I Cloud storage

so... from the biggest nerd/geek (?) never know what I am ,, stupid computer brain!

since having W10, I have had this..
I cloud storage, now getting this message

Your iCloud storage is almost full. You have 485.6 MB remaining of 5 GB total storage.
Upgrade to 50 GB for £[sign in to see URL] per month

Your iCloud storage is used for iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Mail and to keep the most important things on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch safe and available, even if you lose your device. iCloud Drive, and apps like Keynote, Pages and Numbers also use iCloud storage to keep your files up-to-date everywhere.
To continue to use iCloud and to back up your photos, documents, contacts, mail and more, you need to upgrade your iCloud storage plan or reduce the amount of storage you are using.

I do not pay! so what happens if I ignore it?

what happens to the photos I have there? I have precious Bridie stuff that I do not want to lose, though I still can`t bear to watch it, yet.

please remember that I do not understand puter language, and I would so appreciate your help in this. I think I have most, if not all of these in My Pictures... but that is another story since having W10 installed. wish I had not had it installed as I cannot cope, ie. understand puter changes.

thankyou in advance if anyone has the patience and/or understanding with me on this.

Re:

Nanny, I have gone for professional help on this question because I know nothing about iCloud except what I can Google. Therefore, I don't see the whole picture.

As far as photos are concerned, I would be sure that you have all of your pictures in a folder on your desktop and then I would back those up somewhere. I use an external hard drive. I also have all of the ones I post online in Fotki and on my website. If you want to save Bridie's pictures, they need backed up somewhere and they need to be in a safer place, like private folders. I signed up for Amazon's cloud storage, but it became a real pain and I uninstalled it. Google drive is another cloud storage place and I soon found out that picture storage subtracted from gmail storage. That sort of sounds like iCloud. I took all of my pictures out of that.

Re: I Cloud storage

I never use cloud storage. I know some do, but I don't. I think I like to have more control.
I too was getting that message Nanny, because I did not realize that every photo I took with my cell phone camera, was being stored in the Cloud as well as on my phone.
So now I download my cell phone photos onto my [sign in to see URL] once a month I back my computer up to an external hard drive.
And I turned OFF the notification about the "Cloud" storage.... emoticon
