Hi SUSA! emoticon I just hope this weather holds. [sign in to see URL] meteorologist in the Treasure Valley (were we live) is breaking away and predicting totally different from the other 3 major channels, he is calling for SNOW next [sign in to see URL] is a guy on line only and he only started last year....
BUT, last [sign in to see URL] was the ONLY one to predict UNPRECEDENTED record snow fall amounts. emoticon

I hope your driveway is [sign in to see URL] CAREFUL if you got out for your mail! emoticon

Oh, dear. That online guy may know more than the rest.

I am more concerned about my driveway for my student. If it isn't melted by 4:30, I am going to put down salt. She comes at 5:30.

Thought that I would post before I start dinner. It should be easy. I have the left over soup yet. My pasta casserole was gone/devoured. emoticon
I have some chicken thighs too that I baked and I will do a salad to go with them.
I had a good day, long but went well. After work I had to pick up worms for the Bumpie emoticon my bearded dragon. I also stopped at the store for a few items. The traffic is crazy this afternoon! I don't know if it is because of the emoticon National Western Stock Show [sign in to see URL]
is in town now or what. Maybe cuz we are just a booming town. Ha
Katy and I were thinking of going this coming Sunday. I work Saturday so maybe that night? I love to go to see the animals and the mutton bustin events. I have not seen the rodeo in a long time. It is usually a fun time.
The gal that lost her baby will be out all of this week. It is understandable. Not only physically but mentally it would do a number on you. I do hope she is not blaming herself.
Well, I just thought I would stop in for a bit. My time of rest after a busy day. emoticon
I will have to search for a new show. I watched a little of the last show and it was too extreme and gross so I shut it down. I didn't finish the Viking show either. I discontinued cable and got a Roku for Christmas. I am still trying to figure things out on how it all works. I don't have the regular tv so I need to get an app or such to watch the news. Streaming I [sign in to see URL] am learning emoticon my poor noggin! ha emoticon emoticon
Take care emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Mary! I am really glad that you had a good day. I was fearful that this would not be a good week at work. Your dinner sounds good. I am glad it was an easy dinner. I hope that you and Katy get to go to the National Western Stock Show. It sounds enjoyable, especially since it will by Katy. My heart goes out to that lady who lost her baby. The pain must be terrible. That is too bad that new TV show didn't end up being very good. It doesn't sound like one I would like either. I hope that you end up liking Roku. I know that it is less expensive. May daughter and her family has it. If I wanted to do that I would have to get a new TV, first.

Queeny, my student did not come. She called and she was late because her husband had just gotten home from work with the car. She could still come, but she could only stay about 10 minutes because she had a school board meeting tonight. She is home schooling but one of 3 that she is currently teaching is not doing as well as the other 2 and so she will probably be putting him in school, which means she will be going to school board meetings each month. Anyway, it was not worth coming to piano for 10 minutes. That suited me fine. She is the only student I have had since Christmas and that was last week. Everyone has missed because of the weather.

Hello, everyone. I did take the time to read back but am feeling too sleepy to write much.

I was in town today, met our friend, Bill, for lunch at a Thai restaurant. I was looking for the kind of bird seed that I used to get at Kmart but couldn't find any I like. I will settle for the big Costco box but wish it didn't have so much sunflower seed, which attracts the Steller's jays.

Re: So tell me about your day ...2018

Happy Wednesday!

Blog post and newsletter are done, and for once I have a topic I can do both on my German and my English blog. That feels very good!

I went well over 7,500 steps yesterday, as well, with a little deviation to "my" supermarket. I took the long way around the park. It's funny how that little thing has me thinking about ways to get more steps in.
 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Today, I don't have to get any groceries, so I'm thinking I'll do one extra round around the park to reach my goal. I feel a little silly, and I know I'm reacting to some very old, deeply engrained reward system. And I feel a little manipulated, but since it's for my own good... I'll allow it. emoticon

Yesterday was a rough day. I couldn't bring myself to do a GIMP tutorial. And my Dutch buddy missed our appointment and then called me more than an hour late. We did get to chat, and I talked about all the stress I'm putting on myself with the covers, the job applications and the workshops. It helped to talk about it.

And this morning, I suddenly had a revelation: I do NOT WANT another day job. I want to focus on my EFT work and my writing. These are the passions in my life, and they are my calling. I want to coach writers, and help them finish their novels. Help them develop the mindset to be successful. And I want to publish my own stories and make money with them.

I do not want to sit in an office and organize events, travels, finances and websites for someone else. If at all, I want to do this for myself.

Wow. This was huge.

I think I'll still send out the applications. It is an opportunity. But if I can make the Writers' Block workshops work, this will be the beginning of my business supporting ME. (And this particular day job that I have now is *easy*.)

Susa: I think I want to start with the very basic tutorials on the GIMP site. I expect them to be boring, but I know that what I know is patchy, and I'm probably missing some bits and pieces. That will be a test of my patience, but I want a good foundation.

And I'm not sure if I'm sorry or happy that I made you look at Spractice and discover that nest of Photobucket pics.

Yes, the characters do go on through other books! There is still more to the series. emoticon

Marjie: You got a lot done, and you earned that cup of tea. I'm imagining a nice mug of tea with milk and sugar. Is that right?

I read and write mostly fantasy. Some of my stories have dragons in them, most of them have some magic of some kind. My pen name is Hannah Steenbock. The link in my signature takes you to my Amazon page. (You may have to delete the .com in the url and put in .[sign in to see URL] instead.)

I don't know the authors you listed. What do they write?

Queeny: Sounds like you had a nice, relaxed day.

I didn't do much more walking than I usually do. Okay, I added a bit by taking the long way around the park, but I have walked to work and back for over ten years now, probably averaging 7,000 steps per workday. Of course, upping that to 10k steps will be a bit of a challenge. (But it's actually only one round around the park.)

Yesterday, I wrote in my morning, before breakfast and again in the afternoon, so I think the walking didn't have much to do with the burst of creativity. It's much more related to stress levels and self-organization.

Uh oh. That meteorologist seems to be exceptionally good... but for your sake, I hope he isn't right.

Mary: Your dinner sounds good! And I'm glad you had a good day.

Best of luck for figuring out Roku! I know you will learn this. emoticon emoticon

Lucy: *sending hugs* You had a busy day! I hope you can find bird feed that's a better fit. Why are Stellar's Jays unwelcome?

 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Now I need to do something a little unpleasant: Hunt for errors in that huge excel file. I didn't finish yesterday. *sigh* One of my least favorite jobs.

I have nothing planned for this afternoon, and that's wonderful. (Appointments tomorrow and Friday.) I love having a free day after work. I really want to see if I can create a cover for "Borderline". I think that's a story you'd all enjoy, even though it has dragons in it. It's a kind of playful romance set in my dragon world. (With no naughty bits.)

Have a wonderful day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good Morning World! It is a cloudy day, here, but going to get warmer as the day goes on. It is 32 now and should be about 49 when I go to bed. Over the next couple days, rain is coming, then ice, then snow. It is winter! Today is trash day for me, but I did half of it, and the hardest part, yesterday. I don't expect to see any other living human, today, unless I run into someone at the mailbox.

Lucy, your lunch place sounds good! I buy only sunflower seeds, peanuts and suet. Of course, I have no Steller's jays.

Hi Firle! Yay for your blog post and newsletter! I have a question about newsletters. If someone decides they don't want a newsletter anymore, is the owner notified when they drop out? I get a newsletter from a veterinarian, and I love the veterinarian, but I am tired of the newsletter. I don't want to hurt her feelings. Yay for getting your steps! You are a good girl!!I totally understand getting stalled out on a GIMP tutorial. I, also, need to go back and do the basic tutorials. I never started at the beginning and I have holes in my education. I am stalled out hanging pictures on the wall for fear I will make too many extra holes. Oh, I totally understand not wanting another day job! I remember the day that I quit and wondered if I could make it. Well, I did. I made it. I was 53 when I quit, but I did have an unexpected lifetime income before I quit. Hhhhhmmm . . . Borderline sounds good.

Good Morning Marjie! I like Earl Grey tea, too. However, I don't drink it very often. I just drink honey in hot water. I would enjoy those books from the 30's, too. I like historical novels. You are a wonderful knitter and for a good cause.

Hi Nanny! Good afternoon! I can't imagine turning the heating off in the middle of the winter! I would think you are very cold, but then, it is warmer there.

GOOD WEDNESDAY, [sign in to see URL] MY FRIENDS!
Well, today we have the Heat/AC guy coming for our routine maintenance. And luckily we no longer have "dumb Sheeit"... He FINALLY retired. We have a new young guy called Cody, so lets see how this goes. But no one can be as bad as that other guy!
So, I have already taken my bath and washed my hair. Cleaned the bathrooms and tidied up the rest of the place. [sign in to see URL] sitting down for coffee, and hour after I got up! LOL
Do that cause they [sign in to see URL] 10 and [sign in to see URL], just best to get it things picked up, then relax.
Other than [sign in to see URL] need to gather up the trash and set it to the curb for tomorrows pickup. Oh and Mom and I are going shopping on Friday, tomorrow Dad has a blood draw, so she is going with him, then they will go out to breakfast. I think they are so cute when they do that... :)
May you all have a wonderful, bright day!
*********************************
“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. … There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
~ Rachel Carson

Lucy...I try not to get sunflower seed shelled either, as my feeder hang over my lawn in the front and shells make a huge mess.
I get two kinds at [sign in to see URL] is "Shelled" sunflower seeds only.
The other is a "Deck, Patio & Porch" kind. It has a mixture of seeds, but all are shelled.

Firle...Happy you have your blog post and newsletter done and have topic that fits both places.
I think that is the whole point of those fit watch things. To make you "think" about how you can change your lifestyle. I go in spurts, so I can see me feeling 'ashamed' of my fitness and so guilty and NOT wanting to wear the thing that makes me feel guilty!
But that [sign in to see URL] for our own good [sign in to see URL] a good thing! Go with it..
And an extra trip around the park is good for the soul as well as the body.
Sorry you only got a wee talk with your Dutch buddy.....
I am glad you came to the realization that you do not want another office day job!
That light bulb going off, just about blinded me waaaaay over here! emoticon
quote:

Uh oh. That meteorologist seems to be exceptionally good... but for your sake, I hope he isn't right.

Yeah, this is one of those rare times when I wish the Meteorologist is WRONG!

Marjie...good morning dear! My son and his wife only drink Earl Grey [sign in to see URL]'s quite good. It was also the drink for Captain Jean-Luc Picard, captain of the USS Enterprise. If you have no idea what I am talking [sign in to see URL] a Star Trek TV show. emoticon
quote:

As well as reading i knit toys for children in Romania and also Local children who are less fortunate than [sign in to see URL] all go before Christmas. We have our first great grandchild so i knit for him also.

Oh [sign in to see URL] wonderful! Bless you for caring and doing something about it.
How old is your first grandchild?

Nanny...well dear, it is STILL morning here, so Good morning! LOL
I think you are doing well with your crocheting, at least you are taking a class. I totally sucked at it.
We are having our routine maintenance done on the Heat pump/ AC unit, it will cost [sign in to see URL] a lot less than if it were to break down.
Good luck at your craft meeting...

HI Susa! So glad it's going to get warmer. That will be nice. But the rain, then ice, then [sign in to see URL] sounds horrible!
We are 34 right now, going up to 46F.
That made sense for your student not to come then. I sure hope your weather clears, this has not been a good start to your 2018!

Firle, that is quiet lovely! It is so green... emoticon

Well, the new maintenance guy came from the One Hour heating and air conditioning. He was [sign in to see URL] around 25 or so. Very nice, clean cut and had good manners.
He also worked really [sign in to see URL] minutes he was done. And he only had to make one trip through the house. THE OLD [sign in to see URL] hour at [sign in to see URL] of 5 trips through the house, for which I had to check the door (sliding door was worst) to make sure they [sign in to see URL] the cats would not get out. OLD GUY never closed them all the way. This new kid, was very good at closing the door and wearing his shoe protectors!
WE also told him the troubles we have every Winter with the loud banging and constant on and off of the machine. He is going to talk to an installer they have, and might have to come back and make a second air inflow hole. Old [sign in to see URL] a couple things and then basically said, "live with it"... emoticon
SO HAPPY! Dumb sheeit IS GONE! emoticon

Queeny! I sounds like you got a good guy this time. I hope he stays there.

I got my trash done. I also went around my skirting and pushed the skirting back in where it was puffing out under that top strip. None of it had popped out, but I never like how it puffs out in super cold weather. I think my neighbor's dog is no longer with them!!! It was during this cold weather, at Christmas time, that I heard the dog crying outside to get in and they were really slow about getting him back in the house. They also never clean up after him. When I went around the house, all the poop was cleaned up and there was no chain hanging there. After all that, I water proofed my newest pair of boots.

Firle, are you saying that you don't want any day job at all, or just that you don't want a different day job than the one that you have now? (I'll bet that there are lots of people who don't want day jobs, but lots of people need the income to support themselves, their families, save for retirement, etc, etc etc.)

Do you think that you would be able to support yourself on just the income from your EFT practice and your writing?

Do you still want to move back to your hometown, or do you think that you will just stay where you are, and keep your current day job while you try to build up your EFT practice, writing, etc?

I wish you luck in whatever you want to do.

Nanny, you will get the hang of crocheting soon enough. Maybe after a couple more lessons. It really isn't difficult, you just have to get comfortable with it.

Queeny, I guess you didn't like the old furnace guy. emoticon I'm glad the new one seems to be more helpful.

You ask about the Steller's jays; they are very greedy and take all the large seeds and nuts. I see them scraping all the small seed out of the feeder to get at the kind they want. The little birds have to peck around in the wet grass looking for their seed.

Firle, I hope your plans for the future work out for you. You have made a huge decision.

The park picture is very nice. I like the shadows.

Marjie, it is so kind of you to crochet toys for children. Earl Gray is the only tea my husband drinks.

Susa, I hope nothing bad happened to the neighbor's dog and that the lady just took it away with her.

I hope you are ready for that storm that is expected over the weekend. I know you are stocked up on food, but hope you don't lose power.

 emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I just puttered around today, did some cleaning, cooking, Facebook, reading. I also ordered some supplements known to help relieve cold and flu symptoms, just in case.

Re: So tell me about your day ...2018

Happy Thursday!

Yesterday was a weird day. First, I had a spontaneous lunch meeting with my IT friend. Then I decided to add a round around the park to my walking - to up my daily count (almost got 10k!). And I met a friend there who was also out on a walking quest. So we had a nice chat and walked together for half a round.

And then I met my elderly, chatty neighbor just before getting home, and talked to him for a bit. I don't mind him, I just dislike that it's so hard to end a conversation with him. He's worse than Columbo. *sigh*

The rest of the day was much less glamorous. I managed to write only very little (my characters are not cooperating), but I did manage to write my English blog post.

My boss came to my office and chatted for a while just now... not getting much done today.

After work, I'll take a bus to go and see my ob/gyn for a normal check-up. That round trip usually takes about three hours. I'm planning on adding some walking, at least. I hope it won't rain, but they are forecasting drizzle.

Marjie: That's funny about the Earl Grey. It's my favorite kind of tea, but I do put milk into it. It sounds like you enjoy historical novels. emoticon

Love how your knitting is supporting people in need. That is a good cause.

Nanny: Oh, I hear you on heating payments. But please be careful with the cold... I hope it all works out. emoticon emoticon

Susa: I sometimes get notificiations when someone unsubscribes, but not always. It depends on the system. Some places have a form where you can enter a message when you unsubscribe.

You made the best choice to quit when you did. I'm 52 now, so I have one more year to find a source of unexpected life income!
 emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yay for taking care of the skirting. And maybe it is a good thing the dog is gone. I think you're right and the woman took it with her.

Queeny: Your new heat guy sounds like a keeper! How wonderful of him to respect your needs, especially with the cats. And I hope he has pointed out a good solution, too.

Yeah, that day job thing... I will apply to those jobs, but the truth is... I want to follow my calling. Setting up the newsletter today felt good - I'm really talking to the people I want to support.

Yeah, the park really is green. It hasn't been very wintery here yet. But the white in the background is frost - that's why I took it.

OhioSue: Well, of course, day jobs serve to provide a living income, and that's okay. I'm grateful I have the one I have.

I just really, really want to make a living through my books and my coaching, and I really think I SHOULD be able to, if I finally get my act together and get my marketing right. There are lots of coaches who do well, and plenty of authors, too.

I'm torn between moving to my old home town and keeping the current day job (that is the easy, comfortable, cowardly choice). So I will apply to those jobs, and if I land one, we'll see how that works out. If I don't, well, Plan B is staying here with the old job and working on getting my other income sources up and running.

Thank you for your good wishes. emoticon emoticon

Lucy: Thank you. I was amazed at the clarity I felt in that moment. And I'm glad you like the picture.

Ah, I can see why Stellar's Jays are a nuisance. I agree, you don't want to attract them.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's cold in my office. I just turned up the heating... Some fog came in but it's lifting already. No rain yet... I hope it stays away.

Now I have to see what I can get into at work. I found two big errors in my room statistics yesterday and fixed them, but the numbers still aren't right. So there must be more errors...

Wishing you all a wonderful day! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good Morning World! The weather, today, is to be wet and warm. The high is to be about 55. Freezing rain doesn't start until tomorrow at noon. I have 4 students, today. It is officially Alex's first lesson, though we did do min lessons last fall. I will get to see the cast on Adam's foot.

Hi Lucy! I stopped feeding mixed bird seed because all of the birds tossed out the little stuff to get at the sunflower seeds. Weird. Naughty birds.

Hi Firle! Your walking is coming along well! Your elderly neighbor is probably lonely. I know several people like that. I am glad that you wrote at least a little. Maybe tomorrow your characters will cooperate. I think I heard that dog outside this morning. Maybe they just finally cleaned up after him. Maybe the park clamped down on them. That was a horrible mess. I hope you can get an unexpected source of life income, but not like I got mine. My cousin died. I wondered what the white was in your picture and now I know! Frost.

GOOD THURSDAY, Jan. 11th MY FRIENDS!

My goodness it is RAINING out. (Good thing it's rain, that would be a heck of a lot of snow!)
And for being first thing in the morning, it's fairly [sign in to see URL] and going up to 41F. Hence the rain...
Not much going on [sign in to see URL] working on changing out photos. And I think I need to wash up the pet blankets and beds.
Garbage day, but the can is already at the [sign in to see URL] it out last night.
Mom is going with Dad this morning to get his blood draw, then they will go out to [sign in to see URL] think it's so cute when they do that, and often they will stop at Winco to get fresh veggies and Dad some [sign in to see URL] has barrels of loose candy you bag yourself, he LOVES being able to do that.
So she and I will go tomorrow if this rain does not freeze overnight. Will know more about that later.
So here's hoping that you all will have a fabulous day.

It is a bit obvious! emoticon No we did not like him. He was a horrible braggart and know-it-all. He even knew more about 'hubby's business' than hubby knew. Even though when hubby asked him where he got his training, he admitted to not having any, just a passing interest.
I did not know that about Stellar's Jays!
I took this photo in 2013 at "The Trees of Mystery"...is IT a Steller's Jay? I put on the name of [sign in to see URL] never knew what kind.

Good idea! Mind if I ask what kind?

Firle...How wonderful to find a friend out walking the park too! I bet those steps just flew by!
Good on the lunch with the IT friend too.

emoticon Oh that is bad! Loved Columbo!
Good luck at the ob/gyn appointment. But that 3 hour round trip!!! UGH!
I always keep you in my thoughts, sending energy to your dreams. I want so very much for you to be [sign in to see URL] happy. I think when you are, you will contribute to this world in a very important way. I think when you are, your energy level will rise [sign in to see URL] not world changing, at least life changing for those people you help.
So I guess I'm being [sign in to see URL] the world. emoticon

Susa....I hope that "winter" forecast turns out to be a dud!

I thought of an alternative about that dog. Maybe the guy's girlfriend moved out. He was her dog. However, the dog was elderly

That would be a good alternative for sure. Or if he has passed on, that is not a bad thing either. No more pooping in the cold, or crying cause he was cold and wanted in.
Good luck with your [sign in to see URL] you going to sign Adam's cast?

Hi Ladies. I am late here today as we went out early so i did not have a chance to post. I have been practicing how to get my pictures on my posts at Snowys. I was alright with the copy and paste but since we moved i have found it difficult.I know it is easy when you know how but my brain is just not working on this.
Nanny i think my gas meter must be faulty as i have my heating on every morning then at night and it is not even costing me £5 a week I have a card so just go and put credit on it when i need to but £20 lasts me for weeks. It has been the same since we moved in nearly 3 years ago--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Hi Queeny! I sure hope your rain does not change to ice. I also hope that your mom and dad have fun! What candies does your dad like? Good luck on your Photobucket pictures! I spent half the night last night trying to figure out the HTML on this board. Part of what was in there was from my Website and the other part from Gifyu. I found stuff in there that I didn't think I needed and I eventually wrote to Lesa and sure enough! I didn't need that extra stuff. I think it came along when I originally had copied Photobucket's HTML code. It sure messed me up last night, but now I know, and now I only have Fotki in there.

PS: I think your picture IS a Stellar Jay. The is an almost identical picture on Google.

Hi Marjie! I am very glad that your heating is not so costly. I hope it stays that way forever. As for your pictures, I see you are using Fotki and are on Chrome browser. If you are having problems getting the code at Fotki (they have a share link where you can get codes) it is much easier to bring up the picture you want, right click on the picture and where it says "Copy image address", just click on that. Then come to this board, or Snowy's, and click on "Insert image" and paste the code there. Then click on "OK". If you forget these instructions some day, in the Photo Album on this board, the instructions are written and sticked there.

HI Marjie! Susa, explained in her post about how to do the photos. I do grab the same line of code, but when I get here, I don't click on "Insert Image"..I just type right into the post where I want the image, [*img*] and then paste my photo image and then type [*/img*] again. I find it faster! LOL We ALL have our own ways...(OF course the ** are not there, I had to put those in so it would show what I wanted) emoticon

Susa....oh Dad really loves those 'orange slices' and licorice beans. But he tries all kinds! LOL
OH GEEZ! I can't imagine how horrible it would be to dig out codes that will go bad. I am actually glad, for the first time since I closed Queeny'[sign in to see URL] I CLOSED Queeny's. I so would not want to have to replace EVERY single graphic [sign in to see URL] would have given [sign in to see URL] in or sign up to see linked image content--
I bow to your bull dog tenacity! emoticon

[sign in to see URL] did not have a clue. And since it was not a good enough photo to do anything [sign in to see URL] forgot about it till Lucy said something.

Just a wee bit of a post today. I will go to my 1st free computer class at the library tonight. Wish me luck.

Luke has 2 more days here at home emoticon then it is off to college probably until spring break.
My fur buds were happy to see me when I got home today. My hubby got home before me and had them out in the yard. Oskar and Ollie saw my car and were running the length of the yard jumping and twirling. Ha Made my day! Love the greetings after a long day! They do it better than hubby! emoticon Shhhh don't tell him I said that! emoticon
Ok I need to get a bite to eat and then get ready. Need to be at the library by 5 pm.
I am kind of looking forward to it! emoticon
Take care all. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
